Body Bugg!

Tonight I set up the body bugg that James got me for Christmas.  It is basically a very high tech heart rate monitor that monitors your calories in vs. calories burned so that you create a calorie deficit and lose weight.  Sounds easy!  Yeah right, that's because I haven't done any real work yet.  I found out that in order to meet my goal weight by my birthday (actually my mom's birthday because for some reason the system liked this date better) I need to have a calorie deficit of 750 calories per day.  That is like an entire meal!  So I guess the plan is that I won't eat and will work out more and lose weight.  Duh, don't know why I need a body bugg to tell me this, but I think the point is that wearing it creates a system of accountability for myself, which I haven't been able to do very successfully on my own in the past.

On that note, I was only partially successful in keeping my New Year's resolution today.  I set up my body bugg, which was the first goal I set for myself but I did not finish getting caught up with grading :(  Life caught up with me a bit today, though, as my friend Rachel was in town and in need of a friend, so I spent most of my day with her.  This seemed and seems more important than grades at the moment, but it means a lot more work for me tomorrow.  I am also proud I set up my body bugg because this will have a long term pay off and I probably won't remember this particular grade procrastination.  That being said, tomorrow is grading day!  Here are my goals for tomorrow:

1. Finish updating all grades on the internet (this includes 7th grade's!)
2. Go spend the REI gift certificate that the family I tutor for so graciously gave me for the holidays so that I can work out in style (and go to cheer practice in spiffy new pants)
3. Get in at least 20 minutes of cardio so I can see how many calories I burn

Wish me luck in maintaining my resolution tomorrow!
